Living forever, artificially.

Given that we can already replace the heart with an artificial pump, filter toxins from the blood with dialysis, and nutrify the blood with IV drips; could a human be kept alive indefinitely with these interventions?

:Edit:

To clarify, I'm talking about future versions of current technology, which could miniaturized, which perform all of the above functions, and enable a person to continue living indefinitely.

Would the actual cells just stop replicating after time and the human fall apart, or would the continual supply of nutrified, oxygenated and cleansed blood be sufficient to keep someone alive?

Dreams

I have always been facinated about dreams, and read thoroughly about lucid dreaming. i belive that i have implemented lucid dreaming at its basics; telling myself that i am in a dream and actually being consious of it. i have also been able to control my dream by deciding what to do. when normally you have no control. would this be ludid dreaming, and do you have anymore interesting information about dreams or of the reason we dream as i would be interested in knowing. i know that some bodily functions are paralised temporarily to avoid injury, and that you move in your sleep to stop bed sores. does the reason for dreaming go back to primitive times? or is it just because your mind is replaying events because it has nothing better to do?

Why does a new beard itch?

If I stop shaving for two or three days, my face starts to itch.  The itching goes on for a few days, then stops.  Why?  What does my skin know or care about how long my whiskers are?

Evolution v Technology

How will the rapid development of technology, especially medical, transport and computerisation of everything we do have an effect on Human Evolution? The past century in particular has made our ancestors dreams into reality so how will this eventually affect human development both physically and mentally. Will we lose the use of our limbs or  will our brains shrink resulting in our eventual demise through our own unrestricted dependency on technology?

Why does my wife's nose run in the morning?

Every morning, regardless of season or health, my wife's nose starts to run the moment she wakes up and continues for about two hours. She also tends to sneeze a couple of times upon being presented with a cup of tea. Why does this happen?
