left handed arabs

left handed people writing in the latin alphabet often find it difficult to write as easily a right handers my question is :in alphabets in languages where it is written from right to left such as arabic it would be harder on right handers. is there due to this a higher incidence of left handedness amoung these languages? and if not, why do they write from right to left considering its greater difficulty to the majority of the population?

What advantage does Clostridium botulinum derive from producing its toxin?

Clostridium botulinum is the bacterium that causes botulism (a form of food poisioning). The bacterium produces a potent toxin that causes muscle paralysis by reducing the release of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine from motor neurons.  For many other bacteria, the value (from the point of view of the microbe) is clear (for example, cholera is spread by contamination of food and water with feces from infected individuals; the cholera bacterium produces a toxin that leads to massive watery diarrhea which increases the likelihood of contamination), but I don't see how this toxin helps Clostridium.

How long can you remain concious in a closed telephone booth?

Another carbon dioxide question:

When I studied in Germany, there was a time when I lived in a students' dormitory and we had a very small telephone niche on our floor with a door to close in order not to disturb other students by loud talking.

Once after about half an hour of vivid talking with the door closed I felt as if I was going to faint.

I think the air volume in there was only about half as big as in a normal phone booth (their outer measures are 100x100x220 cm in Germany), but the door was less tight.

But I also know that "feeling as if" and really fainting are a long way from each other. I think there are no cases reported of sobre people fainting in phone booths.

How long can one remain concious with, say, two cubic metres of air? Or with one? Or do they have some secret airing system in there?

(good thing everyone has mobile phones now)
