I have a hard problem with using a density difference between daytime and nighttime since the argument can be used to explain flow in either direction.

Microclimates

Can a microclimate really allow a person to survive like Ann Burden did in the book of Z for Zachariah written by Robert C. O'Brien? She lived in a valley which she thinks was the only area which avoided the radiation.  Exactly how the valley escaped contamination is unclear, though Ann at one point recounts people saying that the valley "has its own weather." I was just wondering (considering the valley has a microclimate) if it would actually be possible for an instance like this to occur? Could radiation just completely miss a valley like this?

why do metal poles for directional signs "buzz" when snowing up in the mountains?

We were at altitude 2674m on a mountain ridge when we noticed that the pole with indication signs for the trails was vibrating. The same was with the digital camera and the hiking poles. We understood that there was electricity in the air. However, the happening was strange because though the sky was covered, it was snowing, and not heavily. Besides, there were no lightnings, but we could hear from time to time thunders. I was wondering if there was any chance of being struck and also, if possessing metal objects might increase the chances.

Does wind have any effect on sound waves?

Can your voice really be "snatched" away by the wind, or is it just that the sound of the wind covers the sound of your voice. If wind does affect sound waves, can it also affect light?

If you're swimming in the sea and you see lightning, are you safer getting onto the beach or staying in the water?

I know it would be best to go home and have a beer--but that's not my question. Given a choice: wet, sitting or standing on the beach or just barely sticking your head out of the water, close to shore: which is the safer choice and why?

Is it theoretically possible to alter the energy balance if a wind farm were vast enough.

A mass of air will travel from an area of high pressure to low pressure whether or not there is a wind farm in the way.....where would the energy extracted by the wind farm otherwise exist. Is it theoretically possible to alter the energy balance if a wind farm were vast enough.

Global warming and human beings

Probably is a blind shot, but I would like to ask if somebody has calculated the impact in global warming of the direct heat. I am thinking for example in the human population (almost 7 billion with a constant  average temperature of 36.5 º C). And not only that, but the average temperature of all the cattle in the world kept by humans, (billions of animals that otherwise wouldn´t exist). Also we could think in the heat from fires (both wildfires and the small ones) and the heat that escapes from our homes, vehicules or industries.
