I was recently moving my childs swing from one part of the garden to another, It has a hollow metal frame which is in contact with the earth, when i lifted it up there was earwigs inside which fell out when shook. As there was no holes anywhere else in the frames they must have come through the earth and climbed inside where the frame touched the earth, How do they know exactly where to surface so as to be in the middle of the frame, there was no markings near the frame so it couldn't of been a case of hit and miss.
I am an avid fly fisher and have always been perplexed by the fact that during a low pressure system trout seem to go off the bite (stop feeding), there are many thoughts on why this happened but thought i would throw it out on the website to see what theories you guys may have, or should i say scientific answers.
The blue-footed booby (pictured) is an extraordinary-looking bird. It has fairly dull plumage but strikingly coloured blue legs and feet. What could be the evolutionary benefit of such a conspicuous feature? Both sexes have blue feet so they don't seem to be for impressing potential mates.
How long can you keep a tiger cub as a pet? I have read of people
doing so, but surely, for very obvious reasons, there is a time limit to
how long you can keep a carnivore in your living room.
My cat will land on her feet when dropped from any reasonable height from any position -- even when on her back from a height slightly higher than her own height.
Clearly she has a connection with gravitiy. If she were in the ISS how would this effect her reactions?
Please do not suggest a real experiment. Give her the dignity of Schrodinger's cat.
