Could a space telescope be pointed at the site of the moon landings to prove that humans really did land there?

Why can't one of our space telescopes, capable of seeing galaxies many light years away, be pointed at the site of the moon landings where one can assume there are some remnants from the visits.

Would this definitely prove to any sceptics that humans landed on the moon? It would be a nice way to celebrate the 40th anniversary of the first landing.

The resolution of Hubble has been adequately covered.

On the subject of fake moon landings, it is not generally realised that NASA *did* film and photograph their earth bound dress rehearsals, and issued the photos prior to the actual Apollo landing to illustrate what was going to happen. No doubt they would have been used had the cameras failed (which must have been quite a high probability). I had an LP of the landing, on the sleeve of which were 5 very realistic photographs of the first step and a moon walk with the flag, specifically identified in captions as a NASA rehersal. No doubt some of the anomalous video comes from this source.

Hello Liza, three answers to your question I think.

1. Nasa landed, Lazers and 144Mhz signals have been 'bounced' off Luna, done it myself in Bristol in the 80's. Filton and North Bristol Amateur Radio Group

2.Light reflection from the dark side of the Moon is still relatively high compared with the further distance objects that Hubble, (HST),was designed for let alone the difference in terms of focus.

3. Why? How many times do we as a spieces need to visit the Moon to disprove, myself I doubt the existence of the New World and their clap-trap theories.

3+ you might try straightdope.com for a thorough answer. LOL.

Yes but it would be very difficult to do since the lack of space technology

the telescope would have to positioned between the earth and the moon.. I always thought that the hubble was positioned beyond the moon so in order to look at it then one would have to turn it round t point in the opposite direction , in which case , it would be looking at the wrong side/dark side of the moon..i may be wrong but Im sure thats the situation
