What would happen if a man took the contraceptive pill, either once, accidentally, or daily? Are there any published cases?Arnout Jaspers, Leiden, The Netherlands(Image: thesaint, stock.xchng)
Depending on the type of pill, if taken regularly he would grow a pair of beautiful breasts, his hair loss would slow down and in some cases reverse and the pitch of his voice would rise. Transsexuals often take contraceptive medication to help effect their sex change.
The addition of oestrogen do not, far as I can see, block the testosterone. This brings into question the claim that the person would develop feminine traits. Especially the pitch of the voice which is determined by how the vocal folds grows, influenced by testosterone. It would be surprising if the vocal folds reverted their growth
It depends on which kind of pill it is. If it is a Testosterone reducing pill such as Dianette this could cause a reduction in the occurance some of the secondary male characteristics.
As a transsexual who took the contraceptive pill while I transitioned, I can tell you exactly what happens! :)Most contraceptive pills contain estrogen or progesterone or a combination of both. Ingesting one pill wouldn't do much at all, although there might be a noticable shift in mood, depending on the person.Taking the pill for an extended period has a feminizing affect on the body, eventually leading to the growth of breast tissue, a reduction in hair growth (although mostly not on the face), and a change in the fat distribution on the body leading to a softer body and face shape.Female hormones do not change the pitch of the voice, much to many transsexuals dismay. Attaining a feminine voice is achieved with practice and hard work, often with the help of a speech pathologist. The strength of the effect of female hormones on the male body is determined by many factors. These include: the age since puberty; how much testosterone naturally occurs in the body and simple genetics. This can be enhanced by taking an antiandrogen in conjunction with female hormones, although this is not needed in all cases.
what did you mean with "a reduction in hair growth (although mostly not on the face)"? I'm a female but i have more "facehair" then most of the girls I'm hanging out with. Can't I reduce that with pills? I haven't started yet... Thank You!
