Journey to the centre of the earth?

If I was to take a huge heat-proof tube and stick it through the very centre of the earth and then jumped down it, what would happen when I reached the middle? Would I float at the very centre?

in short, i'm pretty sure the answer is yes. i'm not sure of the science involved but the centres of planets are some of the most gravitationally stable places in any given solar system. not exactly a citation but i read a science fiction book (the algabraist) by iain m. banks and an ancient civilization of gas giant dwellers kept the entrances to their network of wormholes at the centre of the jovian planets they inhabited, for the reason that they are the most gravitationally stable places. the lagrange points in a 2 body system are also relatively stable gravitationally, this is the reason that our large telescopes eg herchel and planck are stationed there.
