There's 2 possibles on this, one or both are likely.
It is known that mixing Tobacco with Cannabis shortens the effects of the Cannabis high or stone and this is because the neuro receptors act more strongly in up curve on simulation and back down to the low plateau.
So it is likely that the solvents you are getting a buzz from in the working environment is kept down or negated by Nicotine in much the same manner Nicotine kills the effects of cannabis.
Also the monoxides in Tobacco cause the Oxygen carrying red blood corpuscles to become rigid and restrict bllod flow into the brain, this is what makes smokers giddy after not smoking for 12+ hours as monoxides in the bloodstream level out and red blood corpuscles regain their flexibility they can once again reach the microcapilliaries to feed the brain Oxygen properly, where when made rigid by monoxides in Tobacco smoke they cannot reach deep into the brain through the microcapilliaries so less Oxygen reaches far into the brain and so dizziness.
This could also prevent the molecules from the solvents from also reaching deeper into the brain and so preventing the effects completely and so negating the effects you felt when not smoking and red blood corpuscles were not becoming rigid and impeding blood flow deep into the brain.
One or both in conjunct, i'd say.
If you like the effects the solvents impart by consequence of your employ and also like smoking Tobacco, use Ginkgo biloba from the health food shops, this is a nootropic and thins blood, counteracting the effects of Tobacco monoxides on the red blood corpuscles and will allow normal blood flow through microcapilliaries, ergo, you'd likely feel the euphoric effects even with Tobacco use, in my humble opinion.
Peace.
