space is a vacuum so very little / infinite amounts as it would collapse inta a black hole because of the enormous mass of the 2 metal hemispheres

Assuming you can get a total vacuum inside the sphere, and a place for the horse to pull on without dying.

Pressure in space: Halliday, David. Fundementals of Physics 6th Edition, New York: Wiley. 2001 1.46x 10^-18 Pascals

Using Google to convert Pascals to lbs/sq in and light years to a surface area in inches:

Area of globe 3 x 10^28 sq inches

Pressure = 2 x 10^-22 lbs per sq inch

Total force = 6 x 10^6 lbs

Pulling force of adult horse : 1500 lbs : http://www2.avs.org/historybook/links/magden.htm

Number of horses needed: just 4000

All subject to me doing all the math right

All things considered, I don't think 4000 belongs to the "only" category.

- In earth atmosphere and earthly scale it would mean either a huge bell, or a very dense atmosphere

- Considering a 1-2% offset in earth atmosphere is heading towards gale strength, you only need to misplace 200-400 horses for n × 10^9 years to think of freakish storms out there, and that at relative high density/scale.

Of coarse, i'm only scaling down half the equation to earthly measures.
