Why aren't primates found outside of the tropics (except for us)?

The simple answer is - they are.
The best example is probably the Japanese macaque Macaca fuscata, which is endemic to the snowy regions of Japan.
Notwithstanding occasionally freezing to death, they seem to make a decent job of surviving in a (barely) temperate region.
