X-ray dangers?

After breaking my arm I had to have many x-rays on my hand, arm and wrist. When the radiologist was about to take it not only did she leave me but there were many lead jackets hung up beside the machine - there was about five or six X-rays in total. Should I be woried aout any long or short term damage to me? Also when I was very young my father had to hold me down for an X-ray could there be any damage to him aswell?

By and large, neither you nor your father need to worry. The dosage from a medical X-ray is quite low, especially nowadays. The technician takes the precautions because s/he is doing this many times each day and every day.
