According to the Rockefeller University website, blue whale sperm cells are 0.056 millimeters in length. You'd need good eyes to find them in the ocean!

Generally, sperm cells are small and ova are large. The ovum sits and waits and the sperm swims to meet it. Because it has to swim faster than its companions, it's handy to be small.
