As soon as you use the words "up" and "down" you have mentally constructed a co-ordinate system with an origin from which you determine whether something is either up or down.

The universe does not have an inherent co-ordinate system with an origin so one cannot say if something is up or down.

You of course can create your own co-ordinate system then you would be free to use up and down in the universe relative to your own co-ordinate system.
