Reply	JimL says: Snow is a loose collection of water ice crystals with a lot of air spaces between them.  By pouring water onto the snow, you displace the air.  If the snow is cold enough to freeze the water, you're left with a block of ice having little air.  (1 vote) average rating:4 Tags: ice, snow.
