Why do Iron burns not produce blisters?

Whenever I burn myself on the iron, the burnt area of skin goes darker and eventually peels off.

However, when I touched a hot pan, I got a blister instead.

The burns were caused through contact with hot metal, so why were the results different?

Iron burns DO produce blisters, if the burn is bad enough.  The size of the blister has to do with the depth and severity of the burn as well as the circulation available at the burn site.  Low circulation and dehydrated or calloused skin will have less blistering at the burn site.
