Why don't modern movies depict modern enemies compared to the large amount of movies that portrayed Russian enemies?

After the fall of the Soviet Union countless movies depict Russian enemies and even clearly mention that they are Russian, yet modern movies do not depict modern enemies as much nor do they clearly indicate who they are as explicitly.

Who are you thinking of as good movie enemies?

In the past many propaganda movies were made to instill hatred for the Japanese and the Germans for example. Even the classic Casablanca, has political overtones all through it. Though it may be that they just needed a good solid plot... but in 1939, since we were already preparing for war with Germany...

So now, would you like to take a Muslim terrorist character and spend most of the movie making the audience hate him so they could, "get off", on seeing him die at the end?

North Korean perhaps? How about Iranian? Where you going with this?
