You have to use the right technique! When I was a little girl I used to get very frightened by the scratch of my own lashes on my pillow, becaus I couldn't make out where the sound came from. I bet that did cost me some energy, rising pulse and all...

Sorry, if seriously, I have no idea what the answer is or how to find out...

It's the measuring that makes this complicated.

You'd have to start by weighing your eyelids. This sounds easy, but you'd have to choose a good time to weigh them - as everyone knows, they are light and insignificant most of the day, but sit in a warm classroom with a boring teacher rambling on and they suddenly weigh a huge amount.

Once you've weighed them it's a simple question of measuring the distance travelled in a blink and counting the blinks per day. Finding the work done is then simple.

As an exercise régime I suspect it won't cut the mustard, even if you flutter your eyelashes like Marilyn Monroe. Attaching little weights might increase the calorific expenditure, but you don't want to end up with bulging muscles around your orbitals. I recommend foot-tapping or finger-drumming as a more taxing work-out. If you're feeling really energetic you could go for a walk.
