Can a seed possibly be flung into space and be able to land on a very distant atmospheric planet and safely germinate?

I'm also asking is it possible that another planets seeds have landed on our earth or CAN?

Basically i think its possible because space is a vacuum as well as being very very cold so i was thinking that would preserve the seed long enough to land on a planet and sprout creating the first life on another planet?

has this been asked?

I cannot clearly remember whether the question has been asked in this forum, but it certainly has been debated elsewhere. I for one have engaged in the discussion and you might find some helpful material at these addresses:

Unfortunately a full discussion would be, I think, excessive for this forum. But if you are left with questions qfter reading that lot, let's hear them.
