Does Brass cause Polyethylene bags to break down?

Hello Jon,

Your answer is all right !

An addendum: hard woods like mahogany contain

low or no resin, but often a lot of so called "water solubles".

This components are a variety of phenolics, they kill

radical chain reactions. If such woods have to be coated by

radically or UV or electron beam crosslinking laquers,

the amount of "starters" has to be raised.

So, it is very unlikely that

some constituent of the wood caused the decay of the

PE bag.
