Why does snow form a 'crystal structure' round electricity pylons?

Thanks Georg,

I had just been wondering whether there had been more kinds of  "double entendre" than I had suspected. That easily happens when one works with languages with which one has a slight acquaintance and which resembles other languages that one knows well. I wonder whether Translatrix had been following that exchange...

As for the ice question, I had been avoiding it because it is the sort of thing that one could speculate on misleadingly without even a picture. It certainly sounds interesting, but I would prefer to see it in real life before jumping to conclusions. I suspect it has something to do with interference with heat flows rather than electric fields, or possibly even salts or other compounds washed from the pylons, but really, it is not an effect we often see round here, so I have little to go on.

Cheers,

Jon

I edited this because I noticed when rereading the question that the questioner had made the same suggestion. My apologies.

In the right context someone MAY mean by "Kuchenbacken": holding a small child on your lap and singing "Backe, backe Kuchen" to it while clapping your/its hands.

I don't know which discussion you mean so I probably haven't followed it.

This site isn't very user-friendly for people who want to follow discussions without taking part in them :-)

Hi Tx,

If you are interested enough you can find the thread at:

http://www.last-word.com/content_handling/show_tree/tree_id/3928.html

I found it by entering "Kuchenbacken" into the "Advanced search".

Whether you would find it worth folowing up the thread however, is another matter. It seems to comprise mainly two guys having a spat about essential oils and essential trace elements.

Meanwhile, thanks for the contribution; I had far more literal interpretations in mind.

Cheers,

Jon
