Hello Kate Gould,Interesting that you've phrased your question as "why aren't" when clearly both people and animals are upside down in the Antarctic. As expected in these answers there's a lot of talk about relative positioning i.e. up and down don't exist and are purely just ways for us to rationalise where we are relative to other points in space. But I would suggest that you ignore any answers that mention this as they are purely flights of fancy conjured up by so-called scientific minds who in this age of the internet are nothing more than delusional trolls or government agencies that deal with misinformation. Purposely misleading posts about Scottish gecko feet (which I find offensive as someone with Scottish ancestry) and this mythical thing called "gravity" should be enough to demonstrate this.Spare a moment and think about why a sense of direction is so ingrained in everything you do. This isn't an accident, this is evolution at work. And as we're on the cusp of finding out, evolution works on a universal scale. There are many references to the "centre of the universe", often from the same minds that refer to relative positioning. How can the same people that say that up and down are relative concepts then go on to vehemently say that there is a definite centre to the universe? Sounds a little conflicting if you ask me and reeks of half-truths. I'll stop short of calling this a cover up as I've had enough of government wire taps and death threats in the form of not so cryptic messages in newspaper headlines that I "just happen" to subscribe to. However when the real purpose of the LHC is announced in the public forum (think SG1) and our "neighbours" can finally reveal themselves, a lot of things will make sense, not just the answer to your upside down question.
