Where does the Kinetic energy of a reforming foam ball go?

Ok so, I have a foam ball that i squeeze and then release;

Chemical energy from my muscles is converted into kinetic energy that moves my hand, that kinetic energy is converted into strain potential energy when the ball is deformed which when i release is converted back into kinetic energy as the ball re forms, conservation of energy means this kinetic energy much be converted or conserved in some way. Is it just converted into kinetic energy possessed by surrounding air molecules as it pushes them out of the way?....Is there something i am missing?

 

One extra question; Can the commonly used term 'sound energy' be accurately described mealy as kinetic energy of the molecules that make up the medium within which the sound is traveling? i.e. the kinetic energy of molecules within the air.

Reentry-turkey

If one drops a frozen turkey from a table, it hits the floor. If one instead drops it from space, it burns up in the atmosphere. Thus, there should be one altitude in between from which you can drop it for it to be done when it comes down.

I realize that it's probably going to go black on the outside and still stay frozen on the inside. How can you deal with this? I will accept leaving it for some time after the fall to allow the heat to distribute properly, I will also accept some or a lot of the outside to burn up if the centre is cooked, burned turkey can be removed but I've heard bad things about uncooked bird.

How does this change with the stuffing? Will it help a lot to thaw it?

How deep a layer of plastic bottles would I need to get an insulation R value of 5?

The insulation in my roof is made from plastic bottles with an R value of 5.  Leaving aside the inconvenience, what depth of (empty) plastic bottles would I need to produce the same level of insulation?  Would the bottles need to be the same size and arranged, or could they just be thrown in randomly?
