Are days getting longer because of global warming?

The ice that melts in Antarctica and in Greenland as a result of global warming will redistribute into the oceans of the world.  This will involve redistribution of many gigatonnes of mass from the polar regions (close to the earth's axis) to the average latitude of the earth's oceans (further from the earth's axis). This means that to conserve angular momentum the earth should reduce its spin rate.  Has this occurred and if so what is the magnitude of the effect; A - Now - and B - when all the polar ice has melted?

How much impact does waste heat have on global warming?

Almost every piece of machinery we run produces heat, either by design or as a waste product.

All of that heat getting pumped into the atmosphere must make a difference. Has anyone measured how much it is relative to greenhouse gases?

Global Warming

is global warming our fault; caused by carbon or is it just that the earth has been warming up ever since the ice age?

Rising Sea Level

As the polar ice caps melt the sea levels are predicted to rise. My question is why? When you place an ice cube in a glass of water the water level rises, but if the ice cube is already there and then it melts the water level does not rise, due to the initial displacement of the water by the ice. Surely the same principle must be true of the ice caps. Why, therefore, are melting polar ice caps leading to a rise in sea levels?

Do raptors that use thermal soaring like urban areas?

Vultures are able to use thermal currents in the air to give themselves lift and therefore save energy when searching for food.

I have read that agglomerations of vultures occur on the fringes of settlements where animal carcasses are dumped.

But would it be possible for vultures to benefit from urban heat islands?  If so, what is the evidence?

Ways to Motivate Upper Secondary School Students about Climate Change?

I want to know what are some good ways to motivate Upper Secondary Students, from years 10 to 12, about helping reverse climate change.

I am the same age as the students I am trying to motivate, but some other perspectives would be good, because I want to try and get as many students involved as possible.

Rocket launchpads are often sited near the equator to use the earth’s rotation to save fuel.

Rocket launchpads are often sited near the equator to use the earth’s rotation to save fuel. Are there any other examples of mankind using this tremendous source of energy?
