Urban Myth: Suncream shouldnt be used from year to year, or hype put about by the manufacturers?

I've just come to clear out the bathroom cabinet and there must be nearly a dozen different suncreams, where the wife has insisted that it shouldnt be used from year to year, and where I've said that in my experience it doesnt matter and its the manufacturers who probably started this rumour to make you buy new every year.

Does anyone know if there are active ingredients in your normal sun cream that reduce their effectiveness with age?

Is Skipping by happy children common in all cultures or only in ours, and if so, why?

I've often noticed that when little children are happy, pleased, etc, they tend to skip in joy. Is this trait universal in all cultures, including primitive cultures. And if so, why?

Is the Tryptophan in turkey really responsible for making us feel sleepy at Thanksgving?

What's the real deal here?  I heard there is more trypotphan in a chicken breast than there is in a whole turkey.

Evolving thumbs?

If as a species we are still evolving what will happen to our thumbs? the rate at which children text (SMS) today and i asuume will continue to do so surley over time the thumbs will curve slightly inwards....(question asked slightly tongue in cheek) Maybe a broader question is what is technolgy doing to the evoloution of the species or is it actually making us more stupid....we seem to have to think a lot less these days.

Can a 'low risk' cholesterol level be defined for different individuals?

Most doctors use strategies to keep cholesterol at 'low risk' levels. Why are most cholesterol control strategies one size fits all? A low risk level for one individual may not be a low risk level for another.

When I burn fat off, where does it actually go?

Does it come out in sweat? Does it come out in the toilet bowl? Or is it just used up as extra energy?

Why do most humans have three lines on our palms?

My nine year old son asked me this question: why do most humans have three heavy lines on our palms? Is it just a matter of creasing through use? If so, why do even new born babies have them?
