Why does a seatbelt stop my internal organs crushing?

The Dft is currently running an radio advert to promote wearing a seatbelt (http://think.dft.gov.uk/think_media/241045/241134/heartbrakev1.mp3).  The advert says that if I don't wear a seatbelt and crash my car I will fly forwards into the dashboard and my body will stop, but my internal organs will continue moving and be crushed against my ribcage.  The radio advert implies this will not happen if I wear a seatbelt.  Why not?  The seatbelt also stops me moving but not my internal organs, so why do my organs not crush the same way as if I hit the dash?

This clear jelly was found after a heavy rain fall in a patch of soil in our garden. What could it be?

The soil was a fertilised mix of regular soil and potting mix. One morning after a heavy rainfall, we noticed very many globules of a clear jelly-like substance. This jelly was found nowhere else in the garden. It had a uniform consistance and each globule was no bigger than a regular marble. We thought it may have been some sort of micro-organism, so we tried to incubate it by putting one globule in a cup of egg yolk, this yealded no noticable growth.

The picture attached shows 3 globules of the jelly after being rinsed (still with traces of dirt). The consistancy is such that it is clinging to the page of the book.

Thanks,

Manu Francois + Reuben Herz-Edinger
