What is the power output of the visible universe?

This worm hole I'm constructing needs a lot of power to keep it open. I gather it needs about as much power as there is in the visible universe.

How do I set about harnessing this energy source? Obviously I need to concentrate it in a fairly small area, maybe a few of square metres, or at least big enough for me to climb through it.

What technical hurdles do I need to overcome?

Worry lines

I was photographing landscapes in a field under high tension power lines (see photo) when I discovered my metal tripod was delicately vibrating. I could only feel the vibrations if I rested my fingers lightly on the metal and they were clearly related to the high tension wires (not the gentle breeze). When I moved the tripod away from the lines the vibrations stopped, but returned when I took it back beneath the wires again. What was going on? More importantly, if the lines did this to a metal tripod, what might they have been doing to my body?

What is the fastest possible human powered object

I contend that the fastest human powered object would be the smallest thing that could be engineered by humans  fired by a linear accelerator powered by chris hoy on a bike but how fast could that theoretically go? And what could be faster?

Power Saving

My house is full of adaptors - a quick count came to over 50 (not all plugged in!). Many of them are attached to rechargeable devices.  I am aware that most of these act as "vampires" - drawing down power even when the attached device is charged. So I have a number of timer switches both mechanical (easier to use) and electronic (sophisticated but with hard to see LCDs and impossible without the manuals). I now find myself wondering whether the power used by these - a motor for the mechanical and presumably some kind of step down for the electronic ones might actually exceed the saving from say, turning off the charger on a DECT wireless phone?

The switches only tell me that they run at 240V and the wattage of the devices they can support - nothing about their power consumption.

If all the world's road vehicles were converted to electric power, how much electricity would be needed to run the whole lot ?

If all road vehicles were electric, I'd like to know how much electrical power would be consumed ( and how many more power stations would be needed ) to keep things running at more or less the same levels of traffic as today. . .

How much power does the internet use ?

If the internet can be thought-of as a single machine ( interconnected individual computers, the datacentres, routers, cabling etc etc ) how much electrical power ( in, say, megawatt-hours ) is the total global infrastructure using ?
