We have pet rats who are given 'free range time' daily. Inevitably they head towards the nearest electrical cable and start vigorously gnawing through the plastic housing until they expose wires.   They are never attracted to cables that are not plugged in and turned on - only live cables.  Why do they prefer warm electrons?
