A question of speed

Taking account of the earth's orbit of the sun, the sun's orbit of the galaxy and the galaxy's speed through the universe, how fast are we all travelling through space? and, as relativity tells us that the speed we travel affects time, what would happen if we stopped?

Wind and noise

How comes that, when the wind comes from the railway, I can hear the trains much better. I understand that it should reduce the effective distance of the railway, but the wind is usually not over 50 km/h, very small compared to the speed of sound (1200 km/h), so the effect should be tiny.

Stopping Light

It is already possible to stop light in extremely low temperature BEC (Bose- Einstein Condensate) But, if i took say, a space ship and travelled at 300,000 meters per second (The speed of light in a vacuum), relative to Earth, and mounted a light on the back, would the light travelling in the opposite direction to the ship, be travelling at the same speed as the Earth?

Is it ever possible to slow down light so it travels at speeds a human could observe?

SInce light slows down in mediums, would it ever be possible to slow light down to a speed where a human could observe its movement?
