"small town fed by wind-power"

The claims made for the number of houses which can be supplied by a wind farm never seem to make saense to me. typically the Guardian 13th September has for the Thanent facilty 100 turbines, 300 MW "enough electricity to supply heat and light for 200,000 homes". This is 1.5 KW per home, real time. Even if we count 12 hours per day when no power is taken and storage, still only 3KW. per home.  A home with storage heaters, water, cooking etc. could easily need 30 KW.

Am I missing something ? Cockenzie coal power station near Edinburgh is 1,200 MW. So 300 MW is not trivial.
